GPO Grand’s Prime Restaurant, GPO Cheese & Wine Room, Intermezzo Ristorante and Postales Restaurant have again been recognised by the local and international judges of Gourmet Traveller’s Wine List of the Year Awards, with their diverse and expertly curated wine lists.

Prime Restaurant – Two Goblets

Prime restaurant excels with its classic-leaning wine list, excelling at that intrinsic link between steak and red wine, and does it so well. Look out for rare vintage wines, or perhaps let sommelier Franck Goze guide you through the particular selection of fine Australian wine. There’s so much to choose on this list from home and further afield, that all tastes should be appeased.

GPO Cheese and Wine Room – Two Goblets

A comprehensive wine list that covers the world of wine with aplomb. Searching for something interesting from lesser-known wine growing regions of Italy or Spain? GPO has you covered. Indeed this fine list is a very good overview of the state of play in Australian wine, with the local industry, and indeed NSW wines, as a focus, set alongside interesting choices from Australian importers. Lots to explore, is the message.

Intermezzo Restaurant – One Goblet

Great to see such reverence for the food menu with a plethora of wine options from Italy on this well-chosen list. The wine offering is punctuated with recent releases and some judiciously cellared offerings, with a focus on well-known wine regions of Italy, and classic varieties and styles to the fore. Amongst the great Italian line-up is a scattering of thoughtfully selected Australian wine – Clare Valley Riesling, Barossa Valley Shiraz and Margaret River Chardonnay star. While there’s a broad selection here, it’s the Italian wine collection that really shines.

Postales Restaurant – One Goblet

Postales over-delivers on its wine offering from the get go. Some 28 wines by glass is a good incentive to enjoy a broad experience of wine culture. The full program shows a line-up of wine that pretty much encompasses all the significant wine growing regions of the world, with what feels like a decided focus on Spain’s hipper winemakers. Throughout the list there are famed names of country’s best known winemakers, coupled to a progressive list of lesser known but high quality producers. All up, a fun list to drink from.
